2016 has claimed it’s latest victim, Alan Thicke, who died suddenly in Los Angeles on Tuesday, December 13 after suffering a heart attack while playing hockey with his son, Carter.
The dad many grew up with on Growing Pains, Alan Thicke‘s character, Dr. Jason Seaver, competed for Best TV Dad against Danny Tanner (Bob Saget), Carl Winslow (Reginald VelJohnson), Dr. Cliff Huxtable (Bill Cosby), Philip Banks (James Avery), and Rev. Eric Camden (Stephen Collins).
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, the actor’s son, Robin Thicke, called his father “the greatest man I ever met,” who was “always a gentleman.”
According to TMZ, the 69-year old actor was rushed to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center after suffering a heart attack, and was later pronounced dead just after noon.
In addition to being know for his iconic role in Growing Pains, Thicke recently appeared in episodes of Fuller House, This Is Us, and Scream Queens.
Gloria Loring, who is the mother of Thicke’s two eldest sons, Robin and Brennan, told US, “Thank you for your kindness concerning Alan Thicke’s passing. It is a shock. We were all just together for Thanksgiving…He was talented, funny and deeply devoted to his family. Rest In Peace, dear one.”
Alan Thicke tweeted twice on Tuesday, one of which I think we can all agree couldn’t be better said. You sir, will ALWAYS be iconic.
