It’s been a big week for TV! First we learned about SNL’s Weekend Update getting its own time slot, now we’re hearing great things out of CBS about The Big Bang Theory!
Currently the highest-rated comedy on TV, The Big Bang Theory, is here to stay through 2019! This will bring the popular show to 12 seasons before its contract expires. Leonard, Sheldon, and the gang are no strangers to multi-season renewals, either. The last time the show was renewed was for three seasons back in 2014.
The show’s renewal came after the original five cast members (Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar) struck a deal with producers to be paid equally for the length of this contract, around $900,000 per episode. News broke weeks ago that the cast was fighting to get Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch pay raises by forfeiting some of their own pay. Amy and Bernadette have not signed their contracts yet, but rumor on the street is that it’s going well.
In other Big Bang Theory news, a spinoff was greenlit earlier this week!
